About your Newborn Shoot
Your Shoot
Your Shoot
My newborn sessions take place at my home studio. This is a warm & welcoming space that enables you to relax whilst I create your timeless portraits.
With the help of my trained assistant, I take a range of individual and family shots.
Sessions last 2-3 hours to ensure that little one and family are comfortable and happy at all times.
Preparing for your shoot
All babies are unpredictable, and they’ll have their own prerogative in the session. But there are a few things you can do in preparation to help the shoot run smoothly.
- Try to keep your baby awake for 2-3 hours before your session, this will encourage a sleepy baby for the shoot.
- Bath baby before the session to keep them awake but also encourage them to sleep on the journey to the studio.
- Give baby a full feed before leaving or on arrival at the studio, a full belly means a content, sleepy baby.
- Dress the baby in a sleepsuit that fastens at the front. This will make it easier to undress the baby with minimal disturbance.
- If the baby has a dummy please bring this to the session.

F.A.Qs
I aim to shoot your newborn within the first 14 days of life. You can book your session as early as your 20-week scan.
Your session date is subject to change, depending on little one’s arrival. I’m flexible with your date and will meet your needs.
Don’t worry if your little one is older, I’ve photographed newborns up to 8 weeks. Get in touch to discuss your options.
My answer is most definitely yes! I encourage moms, dads, and siblings to be in the photos with their newest addition. Capturing your new family unit is as important as photographing the little one.
For your family & sibling shots, I advise wearing plain tops in a light or dark colour. White, cream and grey are my most popular choices. Keeping your clothing choice simple will create the best photos.
Newborn photography is an art form that takes time and patience.
Babies are unpredictable and I expect to get pooped, puked, and weed on. Don’t worry, this is totally normal!
Babies can be fussy for many reasons; their comfort is the most important part of the session. This is why I allow 2-3 hours for the experience in case they need extra feeds, cuddles, or want to cry for an hour.
- Extra feeds
- Spare nappies & wipes (I do have some at the studio)
- Dummy
- Babies favourite blanket (this is to wrap them between shots)
- Must be photographed within 14 days of birth
